  What did your Grannie teach you?

  for me: how to garden, do laundry (we washed in an old maytag wringer and pegged the wash on a wire line), cook, clean house.. most importantly, how to show love and respect .

  I came along late in my grannie's life (she was in her 80's when I was born and passed away at 103)....she taught me life lessons though, she was independent- left her husband in her 40's (which was quite the scandal back then), reinvented herself, became a nurse, and worked until age 79 (forced retirement).

  She wasn't into cooking or gardening, but my favorite advice that she gave me is: Spare no expense on your face...buy cheap underwear if you have to...but ALWAYS buy the best soaps and creams and take care of your face! She had a beautiful complexion so I believed her and follow her words in that department!

  International Convention...Same Message, Same Emotional Manipulation

  well, of course nothing else would be expected, but it passes me off.. for example, they show this short video that shows a child dying, shows her father crying as he visits her grave...and then she is reunited with her family in "the new system" and then it shows a handicapped girl who is sad she can't ice skate with friends...fast forward to tns, she can skate!!!

  then an elderly couple is shown happily young again.... .

  and of course the end is "so close!

  today, thanks to a brave do and my colleague elkatire 1980, we make make public the manual, guidelines for traveling overseers (tga-s), of which existence many suspected, but even in english, it wasnt available.. from its very title page, this book indicates in bold letters:.

  it should not be shown to others, nor should any portion of it be reproduced.

  note: for now, this book is only available in spanish, but we are working in translating a brief summary in english, hoping that someone from the english congregations makes it available to you soon.. http://hildeydesa.blogspot.com/2014/06/pautas-para-los-superintendentes.html.

  this photograph from a news site is a succinct summary of a life in wt's hands....... look at their faces, it says it all.. also, note the watchtower pr machine in action, explaining that it brings 4 million dollars to the location.

  a little under a year ago, both of us were disfellowshipped for sexual immorality.

  while it was difficult, we promised to stick together through it, work our way toward marraige, and eventually return.

  I'm so sorry for your heartache...that is a tough decision and I can give no good advise....I hope that you will make the right decision for you. You seem like you have learned alot since being thrown out of the organization, I hope you can use some of those critical thinking skills you have picked up!!

  did you feel it was a "privilege" to have the elders care deeply about your spiritual well being?

  if you were an elder or ministerial servant, did you enjoy going to the homes of the sheep?.

  They always made me feel bad about myself, that I was a charity case and "spiritually weak". The elders never came around and complimented me when I was doing well, it was always when there was a perceived problem, or to put me in the pioneer assist program (another way to make me feel like I was low status).

  I was never encouraged.
